Best Cheap Brush Set under $20! 18 Brushes for $1612:29 AM
Hello everyone! I am back today with a new blog post (finally)! I apologize for not posting more--I've been under the weather lately. However, I'm working on a new outfit post that should be up by the weekend, as well as many other new blog posts.
Today I'm sharing an 18-piece brush set from MINITURTLE, which retails on Amazon for $16. That's less than $1 per brush, and the irony is that some of these brushes work better than other brushes I've purchased in a more expensive price range.
In all honesty, these brushes turned out way nicer than I was expecting for a set from Amazon (I have reviewed 3 Amazon brush sets in the past).
As you can see below, the set comes in a beautiful black faux-leather case and a cute brush card. Another thing I was really impressed by: each brush is numbered 1-18 on the bottom of the handle, which is unusual for such an inexpensive brush set. This makes organizing easier, and it also makes it easier to reference each brush (working on some Youtube makeup tutorials, and this will definitely come in handy)!
The set comes with 16 synthetic brushes and 2 animal hair ones. Ironically, the only two brushes that I hated were the two that were made with animal hair. They shed terribly, and I couldn't even get all of the loose hair out when I washed the brushes. My guess is that the hairs on these two brushes haven't been glued properly in the ferrule, which is a bummer. The two brushes are a fluffy shadow brush, and a "eye smudge brush," though I would call it a crease brush (it's very similar in shape and size to the $1 blending brush from e.l.f., but the e.l.f. one works much better). As you can see in the pictures below, the shedding is very obvious. Not to worry though, there are other brushes in the set that carry the same function as the two animal hair ones, so you're really not missing much!
However, apart from those two brushes, the rest of the set was absolutely flawless! I've used my share of cheap makeup brushes (click here to see a previous Amazon makeup brush set review), and this is the best overall brush set I've tried so far. And it's also the most inexpensive, which is the most surprising to me. These brushes are very comparable to Coastal Scents.
Another thing I want to note is that each brush handle has a good weight to it, and it is also very long in length. When compared with my other makeup brushes, they always fall much shorter than these. Not quite sure why.
I have noticed no cosmetic flaws in any of the brushes, which is also surprising for the price point. Below, I show a few brush examples.
I've had synthetic brushes before that were too shiny and plastic-y that can't pick up powder products, an example of which is pictured below. Though these MINITURTLE brushes are synthetic, they work beautifully and have none of the plastic-y cheap feel that inexpensive synthetic brushes sometimes have.
The set rolls up with the MINITURTLE logo on the top.
Again, I was blown away by this brush set. I absolutely recommend it--it's $16 and an unbeatable steal! There's a huge array of makeup brushes, and all of them (save the two animal hair ones) are very well-built, stunning brushes.
Note: I was sent these brushes for consideration and an honest review. All opinions were mine, and I honestly love the set. I'm getting a lot of use out of these brushes, and I haven't put them down since I got them!
