Makeup Artistry and Instagram Dislike/Exploration
6:48 PMHi guys. I've just finished one super hectic week of papers and projects and due dates. I still have quite a bit of work to do for some classes, but the worst is over... for now. I hope you all had a lovely October (so sad it's over) and a safe Halloween!
I haven't been too active on my blog lately because it takes me a while to take pictures and write each post, and I know, I'm trying! However, I started using Instagram about a month ago and I've been trying to post on that routinely.
I've never been a big fan of Instagram.
I don't like the feeling I get from the community, and I do feel like there's a sort of pressure to compete for followers or follower ratio or whatever BS people talk about. Shoutout-for-shoutout, that kind of stuff. People on Instagram are much less friendly about expressing opinions/commenting on artwork. I also know a lot of friends/real-life acquaintances on Instagram, and I've never been super open about sharing my blogging work, so it's pretty nerve-wracking to accidentally stumble upon someone's account/vice versa.
That being said, I can't deny that it is a good social media tool, and I've been pretty active on it for school news and social media (not my personal account), so I decided to give it another go, and at least try it until the end of this year? I do like that it's been challenging me to practice my makeup artistry more. I'm trying to keep it a makeup-centered account (I know I post fashion stuff on here but I'll keep that limited to my blog) because I don't really have many chances anymore to practice makeup, now that I no longer work in theatre/at Macy's. I've missed practicing my favorite art, so this gives me at least some incentive/motivation to keep working at it and not let my skills (or large makeup collection) go to waste.
Anyway, rant over. If you'd like to follow me/TALK TO ME (I'd love to actually connect with fellow bloggers via Instagram because right now that ain't happening), my account is: convoluteddreams.
Here is a button if you prefer visuals over text, haha:
And yeah, that's pretty much it! Thanks for the support. I really appreciate this blogging community we've got here.

I really like Instagram, although I agree with you that it's a less friendly social network platform. I'll check yours out though, mine is _thevelvetblack if you wanted to look :). Good luck with all your school work!

I'm personally a huge Instagram fan, but I can see why you wouldn't like it, it can get very catty. I've just followed you :) Love your makeup photos!
